 In the ancient times where technology was still at its lowest, females were always looked down upon the society. The possible main reasons are because they are "incompetent" in combat, and because of their presumed "lack" of physical attributes, they were always "inferior" than that of men. When war seems to be always stirring and lands were the shiniest gold, most of them were at home only left worrying about their husband and the future of their infants. Later, the concept of equality emerged as the women were done with their position in society, they craved for what men also had and it is what they also very much deserve. In our current society, we could still see people looking down on some women, but in the course of our lifetime, we have seen multiple things that people with feminine attributions do much better than people with masculine characteristics. Well, we are approaching the end of another quarter, I am still not ready to say goodbye to grade 10, since I've never fully embraced its contents and enjoyabilities just yet, Its going to suck since there is only one more quarter left but on the bright side, Face-to-Face will get implemented on the start of the final quarter, so I am very much excited to see some familiar faces for almost 3 years. This quarter might be one of the most memorable ones in my opinion, not only because the topics presented and discussed this time were one of my favorites, but also because this quarter was as fruitful of juicy knowledge as ever.  This quarter was hands down magnificent.   As the vicious storm of the so called COVID pandemic continues to whirl down our economy and society, we have found different ways to defend ourselves and combat the virus. The only things that mattered in the world war II was the concept of Battle and the results of either a glorious victory or a painful defeat. From the blood thirsty invaders to the noble heroes that risk their  lives to serve as a bastion for their beloved nation. The invaders in this case are the Japanese Colonists who paved their way to colonize us, the Filipinos. In the 9th of April of 1942, Japanese and Filipino Joint Forces, accepted defeat in a way of surrender, subsequent to this the surviving prisoners of war were forced to walk from Bataan to Pampanga (66km), it lasted from 5-10 days and the Japanese escorts offered no support to the survivors.  As we approach the first few months of the year, we also come closer to experiencing another week of repentance, fasting and alms giving. A week where we purify ourselves from the troubles and deeds that stacked up the past year. This is called "Lent" or Lenten season and it is usually concluded with the most sacred church year of Christians/Roman Catholics "The Holy Week". As the name suggests this season of Lent is worth celebrating. As previously stated in this season, some Christians practice what's called as fasting, they fast not only for self-control, but they fast for physical and spiritual purification and it helps them participate more fully in the cross of Christ.   As the final week of January comes into action, Biguenos and other Ilocos Surians all gather in the Tamag Grounds to celebrate one of the events that would set the bar for the year, the Kannawidan. This celebration is very special to the hearts ilocanos, because these are days filled with joy in different activities, and not only that there is also a marketplace that consists of food courts, botanical shops, furniture stores, bonsai displays and an art gallery all located in the main venue. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival 2019 was the last time the event got big, because of the onset of quarantines and lockdowns caused by the virus, the celebration of Kannawidan 2022 was constricted with strict protocols just like requiring a vaccination card and ID and not letting anyone under the age of 16, especially without a face mask.   Every now and then it’s really exciting to realize that Christmas is just on the horizon, most especially when there are only a few days left and if you’re wondering how biguenos like me celebrate Christmas, there isn’t really anything that sets it aside from the pack. A festive Christmas in Vigan isn’t as distinct as you may think, its just as heart-warming and special as how other towns or municipalities celebrate it.
